About me

My career in international development and humanitarian aid started in 2008. Since then, I have led increasingly large teams and projects in complex circumstances. I saw Burundi descend into near civil war in 2010, and I witnessed the birth of a country in 2011 in South Sudan. I experienced the Arab Spring in Yemen, and I coordinated a humantarian response to the Syrian Crisis in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq over several years.

I worked on improving public health, particularly in the domains of Malaria, Child Survival, HIV, and Reproductive Health and Rights. I covered water access, shelter, cash assistance, Gender projects among other topics.

When not in the field, I am based in Toulouse, in the South-West of France. Learn more about my recent work on LinkedIn.

Expertise

Strategic Analysis

As Country Director, Program Manager and Regional Director for different NGOs, I have created and updated strategies with my teams. Whether we were aiming to respond to emerging needs, to keep the country office afloat or to support partners, we put everything in place to convince our stakeholders and get the right response in place.

Team Motivation

Managing teams of 500 people spread over 5 countries, or managing a team of one person, I drew on the same resources in terms of people management. Team motivation is key, and at the heart of that is communication and management style. We don’t just need to write a strategy paper or a fundraising plan, we need to get every person of your team on board.

Fundraising Successes

I have contributed to fundraising efforts for projects of all sizes, for many donors. The largest successful one was for the PSI-led Impact Malaria program, which spans 28 countries with over $200 million in funding. That does not prevent me from supporting small scale funding applications, such as  a recent $75,000 grant in Lebanon for a Woman-led Organization. Their success was just as much a reason to rejoice. Impact matters.

Adult Learning Trainer

I use Adult Learning techniques to convey key concepts and approaches, whether in workshops or trainings. Drawing on the knowledge of the participants and preserving space for experience sharing are some of them. I have been training colleagues for many years, and since 2020 I have been teaching at training institutes in France: Bioforce, 3A and Sciences-Po Toulouse.

Partnership Building

“Head of the Partnership task force”, “Partnership and Capacity-Building trainer” or “Consortium builder”, I have had many hats to demonstrate my interest in building bridges between organizations. Beyond this, it’s also about putting the right processes in place to make sure they last through time and are not person-dependent.

Gender Sensitivity

I believe that women and girls have unique needs that are often overlooked in humanitarian and development projects. It is a topic that I have been specializing in the last few years, and continue to learn about. My experience include designing  Gender sensitization sessions for my staff, carrying out a Gender analysis survey in Iraq, and designing projects centered on the needs of women and girls.

Field-tested

I have worked in many volatile, fast moving environments, whether in South Sudan at the creation of its institutions and laws, or in Yemen during the Arab Spring. I have a high capacity to adapt quickly to new contexts and adapt to situations that evolve quickly.

I have worked in person in Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Yemen…

… and DRC and Senegal. I’ve worked remotely (from HQ) with Benin, Cameroon, Mali, Niger, Tchad and Togo.

I have spent one year in Burundi and another in South Sudan. I’ve worked remotely with Ethiopia and Tanzania.
